Director of Coaching
 Albert Gundmundsson (Girls U9 Gold, Girls U13 Blue, Girls U14 Gold and Blue)

Coaching Experience:

Albert began his coaching career at the age of 18, as Assistant Coach for Valur’s Women’s team, in Reykjavik.  The following year, as their Head Coach, the Women’s team won the Icelandic Championship.  Albert has coached in Iceland, Sweden, Germany and the US for over 15 seasons, including 4 years as a player/coach in Sweden. Albert joined Glenview Soccer Club as a coach in January 2004, and accepted the Director of Coaching in April 2006.

 Playing Experience:

Albert played with Valur, Reykjavik, from the age of 7 until he left Iceland to play professionally in Canada and the US, at the age of 22.  Prior to leaving Iceland, Albert’s team won the Icelandic Championship 3 times as well as the League Cup, also 3 times.  He represented the Icelandic National Team 7 times, competing against teams from Sweden, Russia, Norway, and Turkey.  He also played 8 European Championship games with Valur. 

Albert’s playing experience in the North American Soccer League (NASL) included stints in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Buffalo, Denver, and Kansas City.  Albert then played 6 years in Sweden, before moving to Germany.

 Coaching Experience:

Mike has more than eleven years of coaching experience to his credit with youth teams in Evanston, Skokie, Morton Grove and Concordia. 

 Playing Experience:

Mike began playing soccer at the age of seven with the youth program of famed Russian side Spartak Moscow. He came to the United States at the age of 16 where he attended Niles North High School in north suburban Skokie. Mike continued to commute between both countries where he furthered his playing experience with teams in the Russian second and third divisions, and locally with the Chicago Soccers U21 team.

 Coaching Experience:

Jarol had his first coaching experience at the age of 20; coaching boys travel teams for about 4 years.  In 2005, he began coaching in Glenview AYSO, where he coached kindergarten and first grade girl teams.  He also coached Boys U5 soccer and continues to coach Boys kindergarten teams. 

 Playing Experience:

Jarol began playing soccer at the age of 8-years old.  He played indoor/outdoor with youth travel teams, competing in many tournaments throughout Illinois.  At the age of 16, he began playing in the men divisions of Illinois Amateur Leagues.  He played indoor/outdoor in the men divisions for fifteen years.

 Playing Experience:

Marcus is a a former soccer player of the club from 3rd grade all the way to my senior year at Glenbrook South High School.  I was a 2-year Varsity Letterman at Glenbrook South earning All-Sectional Honors my senior year in 2004.  I played at the Fullback/Sweeper position all throughout highschool scoring 5 goals and 9 assists.  I was part of a team that reached the Elite Eight (top eight teams), and top 16 teams of Illinois.  I was recruited by a couple of teams in Wisconsin.  Currently, I play in a competitive adult indoor soccer league in Palatine, and in pick up games around the area.

For several summers during and after college, I organized and ran my own youth soccer camp.  For the past five years, I have been coaching recreational youth soccer.

 Playing Experience: I am former soccer.  I started playing soccer when I was 5 years old.  My first select team was at 8 years old with Vista Blackwatch Soccer Club in Virginia.  This was one of the premier clubs and playing in the premier division U8.  Then the local club started a select team in Waldorf.  I played for the 1975 select team.  Played for Freestate Soccer Club in Bowie, MD from 1989 to 1993.  I made the Maryland Olympic Development Program State team three times during this period.  I played High School at LaPlata High School earning Varisty Letter 4 years.  Played at Charles County Community College (College of Southern Maryland) Junior College from 1993 to 1995.  Earned First Team All American Honors for the '93 and '94 seasons.  Played one season at Wingate University in 1995.  I have played in amateur leagues since college.

 Vito Ungaro  (Girls U11 Gold, Girls U11 White)
 Coaching Experience:

Vito has been coaching soccer for around six years. He started coaching while still at the University of Kansas . Upon his return after college, he wanted to continue giving back to the soccer community and pursued coaching in the Chicagoland area. He has been a coach with Glenview since 2006. Vito also coaches Loyola Academy boys’ soccer and Regina High School girls’ soccer.

 Playing Experience:

Vito started playing soccer at 3 years old. He then grew into playing for Glenview Traveling. Vito also played for the Sockers FC, in which he won numerous tournaments, state titles and the Best of the Midwest award.

At Glenbrook South, he played all four years. Vito was a stand-out player and moved up to the Varsity team his sophomore year. In 1999, he won a national title while playing for Team Illinois .

As a senior at GBS, Vito was recruited to play for the University of Kansas . He was a 4-year Varsity player there and a started for three of those years. At KU, he won three Big 12 Championships and traveled to play all over the country. He also coached and helped train at camps at Kansa
