When practice gets called due to weather, 99% of the time it's because lightning is in the area. When the alarm goes off, the coaches will move their teams to the shelter up by the front fields. This area is also known as the concession stand, or, where the bathrooms are located. Because there is no shelter on the back fields, the coaches will walk their teams up to the shelter.
The protocol for the players already at the field will be for their coach to call their team manager so they can notify their team. As well as your child can use their cell phone or borrow someone's, to call home. All players should be picked up by the shelter. No one will be left at the back fields.
For teams that have not started practice yet, the coach will call the team manager, and the manager will notify their team.
For days where the forecast does not look good beyond 4:00pm, Albert and Issac will make a call mid-afternoon about the status of practices. Because there is a chance of thunderstorms...not just rain....practice has a good chance of being canceled. Team managers will email you if practice is canceled.
There will be some days where the weather is just to hard to predict. We always try to get practice in, as long as it's safe to do so. Team managers will notify parents about practice cancelations.
All Glenview teams have paid, professional coaches who organize and run the training sessions and coach at the games. For more information on our coaching and training staff, see the coaches page. Teams also have volunteer assistant coaches and managers, usually the parent of a player on the team. The assistant coaches are all required to have a coaching license, so they are qualified to step in if the head coach must be absent.
Training sessions run during the regular season, plus about two weeks prior to the start of the season. During the winter, the club has indoor training at multiple locations. Many teams also play in indoor leagues during the winter. Indoor training and leagues are not included in the club fees. Training Schedules are located with the Fields information.
All Glenview head coaches have coaching licenses obtained through taking clinics and completing testing. We encourage all volunteer assistant coaches to also obtain a license. If you help coach a Glenview team and complete the course to obtain a license, the club will reimburse your clinic fees.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) also conducts excellent training programs. For more information on their programs click here.
