How many players are on one team? U8 boys and girls will play 7v7. The ideal team size is 9 or 10 players, up to a maximum of 12. U9 and U10 teams play 7v7, team size is ideally 10 to 12, with a maximum of 14. U11 plays 9v9, team size is ideally 13 up to 15.

How is a player selected for a GSC team? Late May or early June each year the club holds tryouts. All current Glenview Soccer Club players must tryout each year along with the players new to the club. Players are evaluated by Glenview Soccer Club coaches and independent evaluators on a variety of soccer and physical skills.

Do current Glenview Players get preference for next year's teams? No, the teams are selected based on the evaluators best estimates of fielding the most competitive teams. This usually means the best players make the top teams, but not always, as effort, attendance, and attitude are also considered. Glenview Soccer Club tries to find a team for all players who try out, but that is not always possible; it depends on the number of players at a given age.

How much time does the Glenview Soccer Club program take? Each team plays a ten game season in the fall and a eight game season in the spring. Most Glenview Soccer Club teams practice two times each week for 1 1/2 hours per practice. These practices take place at our home fields at Community Park West in Glenview, IL. Additional skill specific training is available on most Fridays during each outdoor season. Most teams also participate in one tournament in the fall and one tournament in the spring. During the winter, one indoor training session a week is also included in Glenview Soccer Club program fees.  Players will have the opportunity to compete in a winter indoor soccer league, this is encouraged but not mandatory.  More information is available under the Training website page.

Who are the coaches and how are they selected? All GSC teams will have professional paid coaches who possess US Soccer licenses. The coaches are experienced in soccer fundamentals, and many played at professional, semi-pro or collegiate levels. You can see bios of some of the club's current coaches on the Coaches website page. Coaches are hired by the club following submission of a job application and completion of an interview process. The Director of Coaching makes the final hiring decisions, with oversight from the the Board of Directors.

All the top youth boys teams in Northeastern Illinois compete in the YSSL or NISL, and all the top youth girls teams in Northern Illinois compete in the IWSL.
